Project ClimAd "Adapting to Climate Change - Opportunities for Sustainable Development"

The ClimAd project "Adapting to Climate Change - Opportunities for Sustainable Development" is funded within the NGO Support Program in Bulgaria under the EEA Financial Mechanism 2009-2014 by the donor countries Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway by the thematic area "Sustainable Development and environmental protection" and the priority "Increasing the contribution of NGOs for sustainable development "of the Programme.

Project implementation period is 24 months and the budget is € 20,677.
The main aim is to increase the contribution of non-governmental organizations to sustainable development by enhancing public awareness of climate change, ensuring the participation of NGOs in stimulating policies for balanced development and sustainable use of natural resources.

As a result of the implementation of the project, the capacity of young people for climate change adaptation issues and local and regional administrations responsible for the implementation of key planning documents in the North-East region were increased. There are 11 European good practices identified, of which 1 is proposed for transfer. An Action Plan for the transfer of selected good European practice in the North-East region has been developed to solve the problems of protection and rehabilitation of the Black Sea coastal zone. The surveys and analyzes of current strategies and policies at European, national, regional and local levels are summarized in the edition "Recommendations for Adaptation to Climate Change".
