SIreNERGY: First Regional Stakeholders Group Meeting in Varna

RAPIV hosted The 1st Stakeholders group meeting under project SIreNERGY „Social Innovation in renewable energy sources”, financed under Programme INTERREG Europe 2021-2027 which was held in the District Information Point - Varna on 25th October 2023.

During the event, which was attended by representatives of non-governmental organizations, local and regional administrations, universities and other interested parties, the objectives, activities and expected results of the implementation of the project were presented. It focuses on improving regional and national policies in the use of energy from renewable sources in rural areas. The main project idea is to change the attitudes of consumers by providing better information so that they have the desire and opportunity to produce, store, consume and sell renewable electricity. The project aims to help local communities to actively participate and help develop concrete strategies for better adoption and deployment of renewable energy, thus unlocking the existing potential in rural areas.

During the meeting, was discussed the role of the members of the Group - stakeholders and key players, who actively identify and propose the best practices in the field at the local level. The goal is to change public attitudes regarding the use of RES in the rural municipalities of the Varna Region through their popularization. The attendees were also introduced to good practices from Spain and North-Eastern Bulgaria. During a discussion, they exchanged opinions on how foreign experience could be useful in the implementation of energy efficiency measures at the regional level according to the specifics and needs of small settlements.
