Fourth study visit of the SIreNERGY project in Iași Romania on 21-22 January 2025 On January 21-22, the 4th study visit under the SIreNERGY project took place in Iași, Romania, organized by the North-East Regional Development Agency, Romania.
The Bulgarian delegation, comprising two stakeholders from Beloslav Municipality and a representative from RAPIV, had the opportunity to explore three best practices in the North-East region of Romania:
Miroslava Photovoltaic Park
This solar park, built with European funding, spans 5 hectares and utilizes innovative solar trackers to maximize energy capture. With a capacity of approximately 1 MW, it generates annual savings of around €300,000 for the commune.
Ion Neculce Commune Projects
Ion Neculce is a model for the strategic use of European funds, implementing projects such as photovoltaic parks and energy-efficient public buildings. A notable initiative currently underway is the construction of nZEB (nearly Zero Energy Building) service housing for healthcare and education specialists.
Microhydropower Plant on the Moldova River, Roman Municipality
This €4.5 million EU-funded project features two low-head VLH turbines, producing 580 kW of green energy. The plant meets the municipality’s public lighting needs and contributes to local sustainability efforts.
Good Practice Presentation: Energy Cooperative
A good practice related to an energy cooperative was presented, showcasing innovative approaches in renewable energy and community empowerment.
On the second day, the programme continued with a "Common Understanding" workshop, led by the APESA team:
Participants analyzed HD visualization maps to identify challenges and propose policy recommendations aimed at enhancing citizen engagement in renewable energy projects.
A peer review session provided an opportunity to reflect on the field visits, drawing lessons and inspiration from each initiative.
